Analysis: Swayman stopped 20 of 21 shots in his preseason debut Tuesday versus the Flyers. The 27-year-old will get another chance to prepare for the upcoming campaign with this appearance, which has most of the Bruins' expected Opening Night roster in front of him.

Practiced Friday after missing Wednesday's pair of preseason games versus the Maple Leafs.
Analysis: Spence should have a chance to play Saturday in one of the Senators' split-squad games versus the Canadiens. The 25-year-old defenseman is expected to be a regular in the lineup in 2026-27 and should also get some power-play time. Ottawa's first regular-season game is Oct. 3 versus the Maple Leafs.
Hip, doubtful for opening night.
Isn't expected to be ready for the start of the regular season, per Thomas Drance of The Athletic.
Analysis: Demko doesn't have a timetable for his return, but he also hasn't been a full participant in training camp. It wouldn't be surprising if he needs a meaningful amount of time to get up to speed after he does recover from his hip injury. In the meantime, Kevin Lankinen and Leevi Merilainen, who was claimed off waivers from Ottawa on Friday, are likely to compete for starts.

Analysis: Although Chytil's placement on IR is retroactive to Sept. 24, he's week-to-week, per Thomas Drance of The Athletic, so he's unlikely to be activated at his earliest date of eligibility. He had three goals in 12 regular-season outings with Vancouver in 2025-26.
Inks two-way deal
Signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Flames on Friday, per Pat Steinberg of QR Calgary 770 AM.
Analysis: Nylander has been participating in Calgary's training camp on a tryout basis. Although he's impressed the Flames enough to earn a contract, it still remains to be seen if he'll make Calgary's Opening Night roster. Given that his new contract is a two-way agreement, it wouldn't be shocking if the Flames opt to send him to the minors. He had 24 goals and 53 points in 65 regular-season outings with AHL Toronto in 2025-26.

Named the Sharks' captain.
Analysis: San Jose's previous captain was Logan Couture, who has one season remaining on his eight-year, $64 million contract but announced his retirement in April 2025 due to a groin injury. Celebrini is the future of the Sharks after signing a five-year, $94 million contract that won't begin until the 2027-28 campaign. While his upcoming $18.8 million cap hit is unquestionably huge, the 20-year-old demonstrated that he can live up to it by scoring 45 goals and 115 points in 82 regular-season appearances last campaign. Celebrini should be one of the league's top forwards for years to come.

Probable for Saturday's preseason game against Anaheim, per Zach Dooley of the Kings' official site.
Analysis: Zuccarello was a full participant in Friday's practice, but he still hasn't been given final clearance to play Saturday. Even if he ends up missing the upcoming exhibition tilt against Anaheim, Zuccarello appears to be on track to play in the Kings' season opener against Colorado on Wednesday.

Analysis: Fabbro sustained an upper-body injury during Monday's preseason game against the Red Wings, and the Blue Jackets indicated Wednesday that he could be in danger of missing Opening Night against the Sabres on Oct. 1. It appears as though the defenseman be sidelined for the start of the regular season after landing on injured reserve, and it's not yet clear when the team expects him to return, but the Blue Jackets could be shorthanded on their blue line since Damon Severson's (shoulder) status is uncertain ahead of Opening Night.

Analysis: Pyyhtia sustained the injury during Tuesday's preseason game against Buffalo. Putting him on non-roster injured reserve suggests that he isn't expected to be ready for the beginning of the campaign. Pyyhtia is likely to report to AHL Cleveland once he's recovered from his current injury.

Put on waivers by Columbus on Friday, per Renaud Lavoie of TVA Sports.
Analysis: Ceulemans had eight goals, 24 points and 43 PIM in 64 regular-season outings with AHL Cleveland in 2025-26. The 23-year-old blueliner hasn't made his NHL debut and is expected to begin 2026-27 in the minors.
Waived by Nashville.
Analysis: Skinner signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Predators in July, and he'll presumably begin the 2026-27 regular season in the minors if he clears waivers. He made 60 regular-season appearances with AHL Springfield last year and recorded seven goals, 12 assists and 61 PIM.

Analysis: White had a goal and seven points in 30 regular-season outings with AHL Utica in 2025-26. He also had four assists in 23 regular-season appearances with New Jersey last campaign. The 29-year-old is likely to begin the upcoming season in the minors.
Analysis: Gaucher got his first taste of NHL action during the 2025-26 campaign by making three regular-season appearances with Anaheim, and he was held scoreless with six hits and a blocked shot while averaging 8:01 of ice time. Across 62 regular-season outings with AHL San Diego last year, he logged 15 goals, 14 assists and 47 PIM, and he'll presumably head back to the minors if he clears waivers.
